Chapter 2
Odds Against
The event that had happened two days ago had been discussed and yet still unsolved. The turtles hadn't seen the girl dressed in black that had attacked Raph and Mike. Raphael had gone out and seen the girl on her gray horse, but not for more than a few minutes, for she would disappear into the night. The turtles had heard on the news of various killings and wondered if it had anything to do with the girl dressed in black. The damage that had been done to the victims was unbelievable. As much as Leonardo pressed on about how the the girl dressed in black was the one who most likely did it, Raphael didn't buy it.
" Listen Leo, I know how the chick fights. There is no way she could've done that. I mean if she had wanted to kill us, she could have done it and she could've done more damage to us than what she did. Who ever is causing these killins is messed up and stronger than the chick that attacked me and Mike. It's not her."
" Ok fine, what about this mystery lady you have been seen dancing in the park ? Who is she ?" Leo asked crossing his arms in front of him. Raph gave him a look.
" I didn't bother to introduce myself ya know. I mean what the hell was I supposed to say ?
Hey there little lady ya mind stopping yer horse ? I would like to introduce myself. I am Raphael, a hominoid mutant turtle that lives in the sewer. I have been watching ya ride yer horse for the past few nights and I think yer great, but did ya try to kill the other night ?"
Leo looked at Raphael and glared. " I don't think that's funny, Raph."
" Ya well I don't think you accusing me of something just cause I didn't introduce myself is very funny either."
" Raph your such a jerk !"
" Ya and yer an asshole !"
" Bitch ! You're the asshole !"
" Ya right Leo. Yer the one who looks like an ASS all the way."
" I do not, you immature dick !"
" Oh please Leo, my dick is fully matured. Besides do you think the way yer acting is very mature at all ?" Leo looked at his brother and narrowed his eyes.
" Raph why don't you just shut up ?!" Raphael rolled his eyes at him.
" Leo, yer the one who started it." Raph said casually. Leo just shook his head and turned away.
" Ya, you fail to realize yer mistakes and how you are the cause of troubles at times." Raph said taking a sip of the beer that he had. Don was going through poloce files with his laptop and Mike was searching the TV for murder clues. And as always Raph and Leo were getting down each others throats.
" Hey guys look what I found." Don said breaking the argument between Raphael and Leonardo.
They came to his side and looked at the little computer. It had pictures of the victims and classified information. Don read it aloud for them and showed them the pictures. A lot of the victims had been torn apart and some were still John Doe's. Mike looked at the pictures and the prints found next to them.
" Don get a close up view of those prints that were found with the bodies." Don pressed a few keys and then enter. A close up of the print came up and Mike studied it closely.
" I saw that print. It was at the park where I thought I saw a horse, but it turned out to be something else. I wonder what kind of animal has that type of print."
" Don." Leo said suddenly. " Try to match an animal to that print so we know what we are dealing with." Donny nodded and typed some more little things before pressing enter. The screen read : Processing. The turtles waited for it to show up and it seemed like forever.
" Man this computer is slow." Raph said.
" Raph, it is trying to find one animal to match this print out of the couple hundred million if not more animals on this planet. It is also seeking through water animals." Raph nodded in defeat and watched as a loud beeping noise came from the laptop.
" No matches found. Can not identify print." Don read. " That's strange, it is supposed to have every animal in the world in this computer and it can't identify this one."
" Well maybe it's a new species of animal." Mike suggested. Don shook his head.
" No and if it was, I don't think it would be like this. This is strange. If it is a new species, then it must be man made, cause this thing just doesn't exist. I don't have a clue what the hell it is though. I mean I can't figure out what the print even resembles more less what it belongs to."
Donny typed up some more files and read them with his brothers. There was nothing much on the cases. It was an unknown being that killed these people and then just disappeared.
" Ya know Don ? You say it might be a man made creature, so wouldn't that need a sufficient amount of technology and space ?" Leo asked. Raphael looked at him with his brows flattened.
" Talk English from now on, ok ? Yer starting to sound like Donacapello over here."
Donatello looked at Raph and pursed his lips. Raphael just shrugged and waited for more information.
" Anyway Leo, your right. They would have to have a sufficient amount of technology." Raph rolled his eyes at their scientific way of speaking. Don ignored his obnoxious brother and went on.
" So in order to have that and the facility to create such a creature, you would probably need to be in a laboratory. Maybe there is a company that creates these things and uses them to kill people." The turtles nodded and looked at Mike. There was something on TV about another killing and Mike was watching and taking down notes. Don put his laptop away and watched with his brothers. The area that the victim was found in, was about 6 miles from where they were.
" Guys, I say lets go there and take a close look at this place." Leo said. His brothers groaned, because they knew that they would never hear the end of it if Leo was taking the lead. They all got up and grabbed their weapons. Splinter was there on the stairs watching them leave.
" Splinter will you be OK ? I mean should one of us stay here with you ?" The old rat shook his head.
" I can handle myself. Take care and be careful. Do not fight either." He pointed that last remark to Raph and Leo. They bowed and left.
The turtles jogged across town for six miles. Mike complained all the way. Leo stopped and looked at him scornfully.
" Listen Mike, maybe if you worked out alittle more, you wouldn't have this problem. Now shut up, we're here." Mike pouted but went quietly with him. They looked around the site where the victim had been killed. There was dried blood on the ground and a few prints, but they didn't lead no where, except to an aqueduct. An aqueduct ! The turtles got up and looked at it. It wasn't night yet, but it would be soon and according to the police and clues, the thing only comes out at night. The saw some blood on the concrete wall, but not much more than that.
" Should we go in ?" Raph asked casually.
" No !" Mike shouted suddenly scared. Don put a hand on Mike's shoulder and tried to calm him down. Leo shook his head.
" No, we may have lived in the sewers, but there is no telling what may be down in this one." They all got back up and walked around the place.
" There is nothing here !" Raph said. Leo gave him a look and then looked around. Then something came into view about 50 yards away. It was a girl with the most stunning red hair. She was on a gray horse. All the turtles turned to look at them when her horse reared and whinnied loudly. The girl looked at them curiously, but stayed where she was. Raphael started to walk closer to and his brothers were gonna follow him, but he held up his hand. He came within 17 yards of her and then she started to back off. He stopped and so did she.
" Who are ya ?" he asked.
" Why ?"
" Well cause I want to know ?"
" Why ?"
" Why are ya asking me that ?"
" Why are you ?" Raphael began to get alittle annoyed with her and narrowed his eyes.
" Well ya may be beautiful, but ya sure act dumb." It was the girl's turn to narrow her eyes at him.
" Well if that's the way you feel, then I will just leave. Be gone from this place. It isn't safe. But I guess I'm too dumb to know that too, huh ?" She turned and galloped away.
" Wait !" She didn't stop, she just rode until she was out of sight.
" What did she say ?" Mike asked as he came to his brothers'side.
" That we gotta get the hell outta here." They all looked at him, but agreed and left. They ran back to the house, not wanting to look back. It was getting dark now and they wanted to get to the house where they would be alittle safer than right next to where that thing liked to kill people.
They entered the house and looked at Splinter who was sitting in the living room, meditating.
Leo went and sat next to his sensei and Mike went to his room to relax. Don got back onto his computer and Raphael went to the bathroom to do what ever business he had to do.
( which gave the signal for his brother's to stay away from it when he was done ).
Donatello searched through the police files again, but couldn't find anything. Then he started going through classified address' and codes. Different federal laboratories came up and he looked through them all. One came up that sounded interesting to him. He clicked the name : ASSC 300. He had to enter a password to get through. He typed in a code and pressed Enter. He waited to see if he got through or not. He looked at his screen to find he got through. He smiled and started going through files. There so many files, that he knew he wasn't gonna get through them all that night.
Mike came over and looked at the laptop with Don.
" Find anything ?" Don shrugged.
" I broke into this company's classified files and I am going through them now. I won't get to them unless I stay up, but I dunno. There sure are a lot of files and almost all of them are classified." Mike looked at the screen and read some of the files. There didn't seem to be anything important so far. Then he pulled a file, that made Mike jump back. He looked at the file closely and a picture of a girl dressed in black came up.
" Whatcha doin ?" Raphael asked as he finally came out of the bathroom. Leonardo joined him and sat down next to Donatello.
" Look at this ? Is this the same chick that we chased the other day ?" Raph looked at the picture and narrowed his eyes.
" Ya that's her." Raph growled.
" Well let's see now. She is known as the Black Tiger and is one of the most dangerous of the feline hybrids within the company." Don said.
" Feline hybrid ?" Mike questioned.
" Ya, it says here that he DNA was mixed with that of a wild feline, or to be more exact and Tiger to create her. According to this, she has retractable claws, somewhat of sharp teeth like tiger does. Her speed is correspondent with a tiger and she is superbly agile. She can be vicious most times and is considered to be the most difficult to control. Her real name is not listed and neither is her general information, like eye color and hair color. For some reason the color in her eyes is not showing up. I think they are hiding them or something. Anyway, this file said that she was the most dangerous out of ALL the feline hybrids. So that means there has to be more than just her." Don said and started going through the feline files.
He came upon another file and clicked it. A girl dressed in black as well showed up with her file information.
" Well this one is called the Black Lion and she is a sister to the Black Tiger. This one has general information. She has blue eyes and blond hair. She is skilled, but somewhat ignorant and arrogant. They do not like to use her that often in their personal missions. Obviously since they send the Black Tiger out more." Don changed the file and went to the next.
" This is the Black Leopard. She has orange hair and she also has leopard patterns on her face, shoulders, and thighs. They are so small that they look almost like freckles. She is not as experienced in fighting, so they don't use her much." Going to the next one, he found another girl.
" This is the Black Panther. She has black hair and violet eyes with a touch of gold. She is also a skilled fighter and intelligent. She is almost as good as the Black Tiger, but still, she is no match and is not sent much either. Well I do not understand what the purpose of these girls are. Black Tiger seems to be the only qualified to be sent out. That is probably why she attacked Raph and Mike. Maybe the company knows about us and wants her to bring us in." Don said.
" Ya well, it ain't gonnd happen, cause I ain't lettin no chick bring my ass in." Raph said casually.
Mike remained silent and looked at the laptop.
" Don ?" His brother looked at him. " Do you think that thing that has been killing those people came from the ASSC 300 ? I mean you said that it might be man made, so maybe it was this company. It looks like the biggest company here and it seems like they have the intelligence for creating something like this." Don nodded, but had no idea where to look for it.
" Well how about we look alittle later. I will run the print through they're files and see if anything comes up. But for now, I think we need some rest. So goodnight." Don got up and put the laptop away. He then went to his room. Mike looked out the window and wondered if he would see those eyes, but he didn't. She hadn't been seen for awhile and she was obviously not there at the moment. He went to his room. At least for one night he should get some peaceful sleep.
Raphael on the other hand stayed aware of everything around him as he lay on his bed. He wasn't afraid of her, but he didn't feel like being scratched either. He held his sais tightly and looked out the window.
" I'll find you Black Tiger." He whispered to himself.
